New Year...not really a new me!

I hope that 2009 brings much success your way! I am sitting here thinking about what to wear for this new year's party this evening. I decided to go to indulj. The cost is $40 and they have open bar from 9 pm - midnight! Not bad! Last year around this time, I was partying with the NJ Nets! Good times! I laughed! I cried! Ahhh...what a wonderful way to bring in 2008!

I remember writing down a list of things that I hope to accomplish in 2008. Ask me how much of it I actually accomplished. Absolutely NADA! So I decided to go ahead and just do things I know I can accomplish! I'm honestly sick and tired of people using the new year to change their lives. The way I look at it...the moment you realize your life is heading on the wrong path, you should change it right then and there! So that's what I'm going to do!

I hope everyone have a safe night! Be careful out there!

Love always (& forever),
Me'Shell

NYE Plans

I have absolutely NO CLUE what I'm going to do for New Years Eve! I prefer to do so something chill.

I'm not interested in spending $100 to get into a stuffy club with a bunch of people I don't know. I would love to go to a house party...or some type of event like that. I guess I'll have to keep my eyes open.

You are NOT Beyonce!

To all my single ladies... please, please, please... stop it with the Beyonce movement! As much as I love Beyonce, I am not one that takes her songs literally!

Men are going to run away once they hear you start repeating those infamous words... If you like it, then you should've put a ring on it! We all know most men are scared of commitment! That's a given! But when you stress the importance of being engaged/married/etc., do you really think that's going to keep them around much longer? I highly doubt that!

They will eventually come around... Beyonce has her man, so please note that You Are Not Beyonce!!

Thank you!

COACH LEGACY LEATHER TOTE

These items are for those that don't mind spending over $200 on me! :) For those that might be a little more cautious with your pockets... a nice gift card will do! :)

Please note that this is all in the name of fun. I'm not an individual that feels as though I need gifts in order for my day to be complete. I'm glad for my wonderful family and the few friends that I have! As I stated in my previous post...all I really care to have is another year on this earth!

25 days until the BIG 2-4!

It feels like just the other day I was turning "sweet" sixteen. And yes... I was sweet...Thank you very much!

As I count the candles on my imaginary cake each year...I just smile and thank God for allowing me to live another year in good health!

I could write a list of things that I would love for my birthday (and I probably will), but the reality is, I probably won't get 90% of the things that I list. And that's all fine and dandy! All I really want is a chance to be here another year with the people that I love and care for.

So let the countdown begin...

25 MORE DAYS UNTIL MY BIG DAY!

No excuses

I feel as though I've been neglecting my blog. Time to get back on track...

New blog coming up! :)

Books to read

As I sit here in the wonderful library, I've realized how much I miss reading. I came to the library in hopes of finding Twilight by Stephenie Meyer. But of course, I was a day late and a dollar short! The books are pretty much gone! I am #191 on the waiting list. So I decided to purchase a used copy on amazon.com - which I did! :) So with that being said... Here are a list of books I hope to complete in the next few months:
  • Twilight
  • New Moon
  • Eclipse
  • Breaking Dawn
In that particular order...

And I also plan to start the Harry Potter series!

  • Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone
  • Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
  • Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
  • Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
  • Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
  • Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
  • Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

So I can honestly say that I have YET to read a Harry Potter book. So I figured this would be a good time to start. Whatever I'm unable to get at the library, I will purchase on amazon.

I'll do my best to update my blog on my progress. I'm also long due for a blog about love. Stay tuned!
I'm in love with a vampire. Yes, I know, I know..

There is something about Edward Cullen that makes me smile every time I see him. He is absolutely gorgeous!

My Mind is Blank

I've been meaning to write a blog, however, I'm not sure what to speak about. There is so much to say...however, the words just don't seem to come out right! Don't you just hate that?!

So basically what I'm trying to say is...this post is going to be RANDOM as hell!

  • Is it me or are the men in DC losing their "umph"-factor?! I'm sure the same can be said for the women, however... I honestly have yet to meet a guy with that "umph"-factor!
  • So I've been on this eHarmony thing for over a month now...and honestly, it's super wack! #1..The guys that do sound somewhat interesting, they don't' have a picture! Big No No! If you're on a dating site, why not post a picture?
  • Am I the only one that's really annoyed at Kim from The Real Housewives of Atlanta? Ugh! She's ridiculous! She can't sing...yet she apparently has an album coming out! She claims to be 29...YEA F*cking right?! She's with a married man....and shes somehow proud to be a mistress!
  • I love Nene!
  • I'm sick & tired of being sick & tired!
  • 1 month...1 week...2 days until my b'day!
The end

Yes We Can..

Those three words changed history! Yes We Can! As I write this... I'm filled with joy and pride! I'm excited! President-Elect Barack Obama! I don't know about you, but that sounds like music to my ears!

When Barack Obama started his candidacy back in February of 2007, there were so many that wrote him off. "He's too young" - some say. "He's too inexperienced" - others said! & of course we heard... "America will never elect a black president!" Well, they did!

On November 4 - I cried! I couldn't stop crying! I laughed! I cried! I hugged strangers! I screamed! I was ecstatic!

I looked at the faces of the others cheering on the new president of the United States! I smiled even harder! There were blacks, whites, Hispanics, Asians... cheering on the news that America made the RIGHT CHOICE!
I am proud to be an American!

Almost There...

One more day! I can't help but smile! Just the thought that Barack Obama may become the 44th president of the United States, brings that smile to my face! I've been following Barack since his speech at the DNC in Boston four years ago. I was captivated by his words. My favorite part of his speech was:

Now even as we speak, there are those who are preparing to divide us -- the spin masters, the negative ad peddlers who embrace the politics of "anything goes." Well, I say to them tonight, there is not a liberal America and a conservative America -- there is the United States of America. There is not a Black America and a White America and Latino America and Asian America -- there’s the United States of America.

Tomorrow, November 4th - we will all go to the polls to make one of the most important decisions in our lives. We will choose the next leader of the free world. Honestly, I don't care who you choose (although I would love for your choice to be for Sen. Barack Obama), but please exercise your right to vote! There are individuals that have died for the opportunity for us to be able to do what they could only dream of doing. Please don't take it for granted!

    What if...?!

Have you ever thought about the what if of your life? What if I never moved to DC? What if I chose a different major? What if I went to a HBCU? WHAT IF?!??!? This bothers me more than anyone can imagine. The problem that I'm having is... I have too many "what if" moments! It's as if I'm not that satisfied with the life that I live. What if things were different? What if I had a man? What if I was a virgin? What if?!?!? I know there are going to be people out there that are going to say just live your life! It's easier said than done! I really wish I would've made some different choices in life. What if I had the power to just press rewind on certain aspects of my life? What if I had the power to change professions? What if I had a chance to experience the day in the life of Barack Obama's wife? (Just kidding!) --- or am I??? No but seriously.... Although I'm not one to live with regrets.... I do wish things turned out differently.

Please excuse my babbling.... it could just be the chardonnay talking! :)

Why am I not surprised at this???

    Beyonce - If I Were A Boy

Beyonce can do no wrong to me. So of course it's no surprise to many that I'm feeling her new song. The video is awesome! I can't wait until the album drops! Go B!

P.S. - The "boy" is hot!

    eHarmony

    I joined! Yes... I did!
Let's just say I was not that impressed with the photos.
Honestly, 10 minutes after I joined, I called them to ask for my money back. LOL. The representative informed me that I had a 7-day trial. If I decided to cancel within the 7-days, I could get my money back. Sounded good. So I decided to stick with it. Tomorrow is the last day for me to cancel. I'll let you know what I decided! :)

    What a blast..

It's been so long since I've had a great time out...it made me want to do it all over again! :) On Friday, I celebrated the b'day of one of my good friends, Geron. It started at Clyde's! We had a BLAST! We laughed about damn near any and everything. It was about 14 of us at the table. Some of us never met before, but you would've never tell by the way we interacted. After that, we decided to go over to Jin (one of my favorite chill spots). The crowd was pretty wack...however, we did our best to enjoy ourselves. I had a couple of G-spots (my favorite drink). We decided to leave shortly after. We were heading to Station 9 when we saw these guys blasting Jennifer Hudson's "Spotlight." OMG! That was too funny. They were out there at the gas station dancing while pumping gas. LMFAO! So of course, we decided to join them. LOL.

I won't go into any further details of the night. Let's just say I can't party the way I use to. My body was aching...my feet were screaming. Too much walking on 3 inch heels. Poor babies.

So this upcoming weekend there will be a lot of people in town for HU's homecoming weekend. I'm not sure if I'll be around. Most of the spots will be overpriced and packed. And that's not cool! I think I'll just stay in. Maybe do some bowling or roller skating. Anyone care to join?

    Can't Wait!!!

Brandy is one of the few artists that would actually get my money!!!! Hopefully this can be a celebration present to myself. The album comes out on Nov. 11th. That's exactly 1 week after the elections!

    S.E.X.

If you are under the age of 18, please do not read the following!

    s.e.x.

    Sex is overrated!
Here's my analogy on bad sex - It's like waiting for that toy on the back of the cereal box. You wait 6 plus weeks. Then, it's finally there... and you're like....is that it???

    Yea...that SUCKS!

Sorry, but I have to cancel...

You know what I hate most about dating? People that cancel last minute! That sh*t irks the hell out of me. Please excuse my bad language here.

I do understand things happen that are beyond anyone’s control, however, there has to be a limit! I mean…come on! One thing I hate to do is cancel. It makes me look unreliable…and that’s something I am not! If I’m canceling, it has to be a good reason. If I didn’t want to see you in the first place, I would’ve never placed you in my schedule. So right there, you’re wasting my time! Time I could have scheduled to do something more constructive.

But here’s what I’m going to do from now on - if you cancel on me, just look at it as a strike out!

    End of the story!

    Kany West - Love Lockdown

I love this song. The video is very...interesting (to say the least).

    OMG! OMG! OMG!

I love this video... Usher is the man!

This is a very sexy video.

    R.I.P. Mr. Clean

LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- House Peters Jr., a TV actor who became the original Mr. Clean in Procter & Gamble's commercials for household cleaners, died Wednesday. He was 92.

Peters died of pneumonia at the Motion Picture and Television Fund Hospital in Los Angeles, said his son, Jon Peters.

The elder Peters' most memorable role came as Mr. Clean -- a muscular man with a bald head, a hoop earring and a no-nonsense attitude toward dirt and grime. From the late 1950s and into the early 1960s, Peters Jr. helped advertise the famous household cleaner with the trademark jingle, "Mr. Clean, Mr. Clean."

Peters Jr. played many supporting roles through his career, including working with Roy Rogers and Gene Autry on their television shows. He also appeared in "Perry Mason," "Gunsmoke," "The Twilight Zone" and "Lassie."

"He always played the heavy," Jon Peters said, referring to his father's customary roles as a villain or brawny character. "Even though he wasn't happy about being cast in those roles, he worked really hard at it."

His father's acting career spanned 1935-1967, according to his Web site. He also wrote an autobiography, "Another Side of Hollywood," in which he describes growing up the son of an actress and silent film actor in Beverly Hills. His father, Robert House Peters Sr., has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Peters Jr. was never a leading man, but played many character parts in cowboy movies and won a Golden Boot Award in 2000 for his lifetime contributions to the western genre, his son said.

Peters Jr. was born January 12, 1916, in New Rochelle, New York, as Robert House Peters Jr. His son said Peters Jr. studied drama in high school and became inspired to pursue an acting career.

He also is survived by his wife, Lucy Pickett, a daughter, another son and four grandchildren.

    Drugs are good..

I'm currently dealing w/this annoying toothache! Ahhhhhhh!!!!! So I found a bottle of hydrocodone that I had sitting around from an old prescription. I popped one of those suckers in....and the pain was gone! :) But now I'm feeling very "up there." No wonder people get hooked on these things.

So I'm going to try to go to sleep now! Wish me luck! :)

    This is why I'm hot!

    Top Model - Week 5

OMG.... I thought Tyra was going to let 5 black girls in a row go! Wow! I'm still rooting for Joslyn & Sheena!

Clark went home... I didn't mind the girl, she just didn't stand out to me. Come to think about it... None of the girls really stand out. This season just seems so blah!

I need more drama!!! More arguments!!!

Review: Robin Thicke - Something Else

Robin Thicke is the white boy that I would date in a heartbeat! He has this... thing about him. It could be that white boy swagger... I don't know! Whatever it is... I'm definitely sold. Now enough about his looks. I fell in love with Robin Thicke's last album...The Evolution of Robin Thicke. It was a phenomenal album! That's something I don't say very often. For one, there aren't too many artists out there putting out "good" music. With that being said... I'm definitely feeling his latest album...Something Else. Although it's somewhat typical of Robin Thicke, I'm not upset. If it ain't broke...don't fix it! :)

eHarmony is really trying to get me to join. The price is so tempting... but I'm so damn cheap! $59.85! Ahhhh! To pay or not to pay! That is the answer! I definitely do not need to spend money for this type of thing. For one... I have no clue what the guys look like. What if I join today & cancel tomorrow? Do you think they'll refund my money? Should I risk it?

Answers people! I guess I really don't need to join. I mean... what's the point!? I'll just go out more...and hope that I meet someone. :)

I'll update you on my decision! I have until Oct. 5th.

    Single Rant!

    • It sucks being the only single person in the room. I find it be a tad bit embarrassing at times. You know the part I hate the most? When a good song comes on, and all the couples hit the dance floor! So I'm standing there hoping that a single guy can come by and ask me to dance. But of course, it doesn't happen.
    • As I get older, I am going to have to experience the wedding of a former love interest. Although I can't think of any that has happen yet, I can't help but feel a bit annoyed by that. The fact that I was not able to snag them up (or maybe that's a good thing)! I received some news earlier that a friend (former fling) was engaged. So the first thing that came to mind was... "Are you serious?" He just texted me the other day... etc., etc., etc. But then the bitterness went away. I decided to send my congrats to the happy couple. I would hate for someone not to be happy for me when I find someone that I want to spend the rest of my life with.
    • Oh did I mention I absolutely hate liars!? I do believe I am a very easygoing individual. I just ask that you be honest with me! That's it!
    • I need a drink! I'm going to check out this event on Thursday at Station 9. It seems pretty interesting. It's like a poetry/networking/happy hour... Seems interesting!
I'm off to bed (I think)

    Random Thought

Anyone that know me knows that I never gave a rat's a$$ about football! However, I honestly can not help but appreciate the game since I've moved in the DC area! I'm sitting here watching this football game... 3 minutes left & Redskins up by 9 points! (Oh my...they just showed a clip of TO...That man is hot!). Since i have no affiliation with the Cowboys (just my admiration for T.O.'s body), I'll be rooting for the Redskins! Update soon!

Palin Problem...She’s out of her league - By Kathleen Parker

Very interesting (yet true) article from a conservative columnist.
    ------

If at one time women were considered heretical for swimming upstream against feminist orthodoxy, they now face condemnation for swimming downstream — away from Sarah Palin.

To express reservations about her qualifications to be vice president — and possibly president — is to risk being labeled anti-woman.

Or, as I am guilty of charging her early critics, supporting only a certain kind of woman.

Some of the passionately feminist critics of Palin who attacked her personally deserved some of the backlash they received. But circumstances have changed since Palin was introduced as just a hockey mom with lipstick — what a difference a financial crisis makes — and a more complicated picture has emerged.

As we’ve seen and heard more from John McCain’s running mate, it is increasingly clear that Palin is a problem. Quick study or not, she doesn’t know enough about economics and foreign policy to make Americans comfortable with a President Palin should conditions warrant her promotion.

Yes, she recently met and turned several heads of state as the United Nations General Assembly convened in New York. She was gracious, charming and disarming. Men swooned. Pakistan’s president wanted to hug her. (Perhaps Osama bin Laden is dying to meet her?)

And, yes, she has common sense, something we value. And she’s had executive experience as a mayor and a governor, though of relatively small constituencies (about 6,000 and 680,000, respectively).

Finally, Palin’s narrative is fun, inspiring and all-American in that frontier way we seem to admire. When Palin first emerged as John McCain’s running mate, I confess I was delighted. She was the antithesis and nemesis of the hirsute, Birkenstock-wearing sisterhood — a refreshing feminist of a different order who personified the modern successful working mother.

Palin didn’t make a mess cracking the glass ceiling. She simply glided through it.

It was fun while it lasted.

Palin’s recent interviews with Charles Gibson, Sean Hannity, and now Katie Couric have all revealed an attractive, earnest, confident candidate. Who Is Clearly Out Of Her League.

No one hates saying that more than I do. Like so many women, I’ve been pulling for Palin, wishing her the best, hoping she will perform brilliantly. I’ve also noticed that I watch her interviews with the held breath of an anxious parent, my finger poised over the mute button in case it gets too painful. Unfortunately, it often does. My cringe reflex is exhausted.

Palin filibusters. She repeats words, filling space with deadwood. Cut the verbiage and there’s not much content there. Here’s but one example of many from her interview with Hannity: “Well, there is a danger in allowing some obsessive partisanship to get into the issue that we’re talking about today. And that’s something that John McCain, too, his track record, proving that he can work both sides of the aisle, he can surpass the partisanship that must be surpassed to deal with an issue like this.”

When Couric pointed to polls showing that the financial crisis had boosted Obama’s numbers, Palin blustered wordily: “I’m not looking at poll numbers. What I think Americans at the end of the day are going to be able to go back and look at track records and see who’s more apt to be talking about solutions and wishing for and hoping for solutions for some opportunity to change, and who’s actually done it?”

If BS were currency, Palin could bail out Wall Street herself.

If Palin were a man, we’d all be guffawing, just as we do every time Joe Biden tickles the back of his throat with his toes. But because she’s a woman — and the first ever on a Republican presidential ticket — we are reluctant to say what is painfully true.

    What to do?

McCain can’t repudiate his choice for running mate. He not only risks the wrath of the GOP’s unforgiving base, but he invites others to second-guess his executive decision-making ability. Barack Obama faces the same problem with Biden.

Only Palin can save McCain, her party, and the country she loves. She can bow out for personal reasons, perhaps because she wants to spend more time with her newborn. No one would criticize a mother who puts her family first.

    Do it for your country.

    Lost...then Found!

I was literally going to write a totally different story today! The night started out with me & a friend at Jin. We proceeded to head over to CafĂ© Asia. Between that time, I somehow lost my shoe! Ugh! I was honestly depressed. I love those pumps! The BCBG patent leather peep toe pumps! Anywho… my friend just sent me a message informing me that he found my shoe in the middle of the street! WTH! I swear... only me!
