Updates!

Since we last spoke, a few things have changed in my life. Nothing drastic! However, I do think I should update you!
  • I decided to move to Woodbridge! Although things aren't set in stone as yet, I'm 90% sure it's going to happen! :) I'm dreading the traffic!
  • I plan on purchasing a vehicle by November 1st! Me thinks it can happen! Time to save! :)
  • I'm now with AT&T! I won't even get into the whole Sprint drama!
  • I haven't spoken to (who I thought was) a good friend of mine in a couple of months! We spoke EVERY DAY! Three to four times a day! Now he just kinda disappeared on me! :( I'm sad! We've been friends since my freshman year of college! He also read my blog! Hopefully he'll read this and see that he's missed!
  • I went to Vegas! Pictures will be posted shortly! :) What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas! So nothing to talk about there!
  • I got a new laptop, digital camera & printer! Woot Woot! :)
  • I have a new LOVE for twitter! I know, I know! I would add the twitter gadget to my page, but that means I'll have to make my posts unprotected, which I just won't do! I say some reckless stuff @ times! I don't want the sweet girl image you have of me to be tainted!
I guess that's really it! I'll do my best to keep you posted! :)

Network!

When I first moved to the DMV, one of the first advice I received was to network as much as possible. We've all heard it before...."It's not about what you know, but who you know."

Last week, I attended the Young Hospitality Industry Professionals (YHIP) happy hour at the Helix hotel with few of my colleagues! (Side note: I love that spot!) The crowd was predominately white; mid-twenties to early-forties.

While sipping on my cosmo, I decided to "people watch" as I like to call it! While checking out the crowd, I noticed that the majority of people were walking around meeting new people. You can tell it was a new connection because of the introduction. I noticed a lot of business cards were being passed around. So after about my third cosmo, I decided to head over to my next destination...The Park @ 14th! Soon after I arrived, I decided to continue people watching. For those that have yet to go to The Park on a Thursday evening, the crowd is predominately black. Most are in their mid-twenties to early-forties.

Whilst checking out the crowd, I noticed a difference in the atmosphere. There really wasn't any networking going on. It was mostly men standing around drinking w/their colleagues/friends/etc. while checking out the women walking around. Okay, you can say this wasn't a networking event, however, happy hours have always been an unofficial networking event. Instead, it was more like a "hook up" spot!

I know there are a lot of differences between blacks and whites, but I thought most happy hours were pretty standard! You drink, meet new people, make new connections...etc., etc., etc. Well, I guess you can call meeting a new dude @ the park a new connection, but what can he do for me professionally? At the YHIP event, I met the manager of the hotel who kinda gave me that sweet deal - I won't say since nothing is written in stone as yet. But the point is, a business connection was made.

Right now, I don't even know if I have a conclusion to this blog. I'll just end it by asking...What gives?

*Please excuse the poor grammar. I have a slight headache and I'm unable to think straight. I wanted to get this out before I lost my train of thought! :)

R.I.P. Michael Jackson

RIP Michael Jackson

When I hear about a celebrity passing, rarely do I get caught up in the moment. People die every day! That's what I've always said. This time, it's a little different. I actually got really emotional listening to some of his songs... watching the tributes! What an amazing artist!!

Growing up in the Caribbean, Michael was pretty much all that most of us knew at one point in time! I remember staying up to see the debut for Remember the Time! DO I?! That video was THE BOMB! Michael, you will be missed!

Miguel - Be My Vixen

I somehow stumbled upon this song earlier. I'm really feeling it. The guy has a fairly nice voice! Thought I'd share. Obviously, this is not the video, but that's all I could find! :)

My dream

So I dreamt that I was in a flood last night. Here's what the dream dictionary said:

To dream that you are in a flood, represents your need to release some sexual desires. If the flood is raging, then it represents emotional issues and tension. Your repressed emotions are overwhelming you. Consider where the flood is for clues as to where in your waking life is causing you stress and tension. Alternatively, the dream may indicate that you are the one who is overwhelming others with your demands and strong opinion.

Hmmm, no comment...

Next!

We, as humans, love to be satisfied. Whether it be physically, mentally, emotionally, etc. We love knowing that we've "accomplished" something. Enough with the sugarcoating, I'm referring to S.E.X! Please excuse me while this conversation gets a little rated R.

It has been a while since I've been in a semi-serious relationship! I find it hard to be "satisfied." And when you find someone that truly satisfies you sexually, you always find some fault in them. So of course, you guys are no longer dating, and you're left high and dry (no pun intended). So on those nights where you are looking to be satisfied, you are left thinking..."Should I call him up? I mean the sex is GREAT, but he's just not what I'm looking for." So you have sex with him, and you're left regretting it the next day. You know exactly why you guys ended things in the first place, so why did you go back?

I was speaking to a friend earlier today, he informed me that men, never ever break up with a woman. A man, for the most part, will give up the goods to a former fling! It's almost guaranteed! A woman on the other hand, we think too much about things!

But you have to think, would you rather enjoy the casual sex of an old fling or "hope" that a new one is good? And let's say the new one is bad! (SCREAMING!!!) What a waste of a fcuk! I'm not sure about the rest of you, but it's really hard to go back to bad sex. Of course many of you may say that you can always tell them what they're doing wrong, etc., etc., etc. Let's keep it real here, most of the time, it's something that you just can't change! A lot of men have already developed a technique. Asking him to do something else, you're pretty much f*cking up his ego!

Sex is so damn complicated! Why can't everyone just be equally as good? Is that too much to ask? Maybe it is!

She Let Go

This is where I'm at right now!

She let go. Without a thought or a word, she let go.

She let go of the fear. She let go of the judgments. She let go of the confluence of opinions swarming around her head. She let go of the committee of indecision within her. She let go of all the 'right' reasons. Wholly and completely, without hesitation or worry, she just let go.

She didn't ask anyone for advice. She didn't read a book on how to let go... She didn't search the scriptures. She just let go. She let go of all of the memories that held her back. She let go of all of the anxiety that kept her from moving forward. She let go of the planning and all of the calculations about how to do it just right.

She didn't promise to let go. She didn't journal about it. She didn't write the projected date in her Day-Timer. She made no public announcement and put no ad in the paper. She didn't check the weather report or read her daily horoscope. She just let go.

She didn't analyze whether she should let go. She didn't call her friends to discuss the matter. She didn't do a five-step Spiritual Mind Treatment. She didn't call the prayer line. She didn't utter one word. She just let go.

No one was around when it happened. There was no applause or congratulations. No one thanked her or praised her. No one noticed a thing. Like a leaf falling from a tree, she just let go.

There was no effort. There was no struggle. It wasn't good and it wasn't bad. It was what it was, and it is just that.

In the space of letting go, she let it all be. A small smile came over her face. A light breeze blew through her. And the sun and the moon shone forevermore.

Finances

I honestly could care less what a guy is making! I'm a lot of things, but gold digger - I am not! My only issue when it comes to money and men, happens to be when a guy continually talks about how "broke" he is! We all go through the ups and downs when it comes to finances - Understandable! However, it's a huge turnoff for MOST women, when a guy claims to be broke a lot. I don't want to know your money issues! I mean, seriously! We're not married, your finances does not affect me in any sort of way right now! Financial issues is something we all have to face sometime or another. The economy is not looking the great right now, so I'm definitely not expecting people to be in the best of shape when it comes to finances. However, if you're employed...I just don't need to hear about it! When times are hard for me, I don't go around letting people know. That's my business! No one likes hanging out with the person that never has money.

So men, it's ok to be broke...it's just not ok to say you're broke...all the time!

Where are they now?

I find myself sitting here thinking about some artists from the 80's, 90's and even in the new millenium that have appeared to have fallen off the face of this earth. So I ask, where are they now?

Prime example - TQ. He came out back in the 90's with one of my favorite songs "Westside." I really wish I was from Cali after hearing that song! Oh yea, what happened to Rome? Uh, Ideal? Cocoa Brown (although I really didn't see them having much of a "career")? I mean, what's really good? I'm just sad that a lot of good artists just seem to have left the music scene all together. I'm sure a lot of them are probably doing some behind the scenes work, but I would LOVE it if they would just come out...for once...for me! :) Come out, come out...wherever you are! :)

My Sorority Life

So I found something that I actually enjoy doing, and there is no one out there that's going to make me feel bad about doing it! I'm addicted to an application on facebook called Sorority Life! It's definitely one of the most popular applications on facbeook right now! I do believe there is an application on Myspace as well.

In a nutshell, you earn money and Brownie points by defeating another person (house). You get to dress up in these FABULOUS outfits (as you can see on the right - my girl is rocking a very HOT bathing suit!) I paid 19 brownie points for her! Trust me, it's not that easy to get up to 19 points, unless of course you choose to complete one of the offers. By offers I mean, submitting your e-mail/credit card/etc. to SPAM! You can also gain brownie points by going to the next level (one point per level) and major achievements! I absolutely love this game! If you're a woman (i'm sure men can join to, but it just seem weird when a guy is known as a sister) please join! It's super fun! It's super fun and super addictive!

I hope everyone enjoyed their extended weekend! I know I did! I must say, it didn't go by that fast! I guess I'll get my things together for work tomorrow!

Have a wonderful evening and hope you enjoy the rest of your week!

Well, Cosmo Said It!

A friend of mine posted a comment from Cosmo. To summarize - if a man calls you between the hours of 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm, he's definitely interested in you. That does make sense for the most part! I mean, assuming he has a 9-5 type of job, then I would definitely feel good knowing that he was thinking about me while he was at work. But we all know it's not THAT simple! If that was the case, we wouldn't have so many books out there telling women what they need to do in order to find Mr. Right! There wouldn't be so many dating shows out there! Honestly, if it was really THAT simple, I believe the world would be a better place. I do not claim to know much about men, because if I did, I think I wouldn't be writing this right now! I would be in bed with my guy right now watching a movie or something, but I'm not!

So back to this comment from Cosmo - So of course, I'm playing the devil's advocate. Just because a guy calls you between those hours does not mean that he's interested in you. I can look at it like he's just making plans for the night! I would hate for women out there to have false hopes! It's very likely that you can still be considered a booty call if he chooses to call you during those hours. This whole comment led me to think about some of my past relationships. Although the majority of men that I had some type of long term connection with, for the most part, we spoke during the day.

So I will say there might be some truth to this article, however, that can not be the case for everyone. I wonder what type of guys give their "expert opinions" to Cosmo? Are they happily married men? Attractive single men who some may consider "players?" Who are these men?

I'm not even going to lose sleep over this! If a man wants you, he will find his own unique way to show it.

I hope everyone is having a FABULOUS Memorials Day Weekend!

Just don't ask!

By now, many of you may be very much aware that I get annoyed by very minor things! I guess it could be the Capricorn in me!

But many of you will agree with me on this one! I get really, really annoyed when someone goes out of their way to make plans with me, and when that time comes, no call/no show! Don't people get fired for that? I mean really! I basically accepted your invitation, cleared out MY VERY IMPORTANT SCHEDULE and now, you're basically going to flake on me? The nerve!

Summer Travel Plans

I really need to get out more! So far, I have two trips planned (meaning tickets have been purchased) - Atlantic City @ the end of the month and Las Vegas mid-July! I was hoping to get a trip to Jamaica in there, somehow. But I need to get some other folks to join in! I would also like to take a trip to VA Beach. Maybe for the 4th of July weekend! That sounds pretty cool!

I'm definitely thinking about going down to ATL... Let's see if I'm still an invited guest! :)

Suggestions are welcome!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Today's meal - Meatloaf! - Yummy! (I hope)

Article of the Day: His Idea of Girlfriend Material

If you’re used to hearing the line “I’m just not ready for a relationship,” then please, keep reading. One important thing to bear in mind: Guys decide early on whether they’re willing to forgo their freedom to become monogamous with you. To prove to him it’s a sacrifice that he’ll actually want to make, be sure that you...

Pick Up the Check
Relax, we’re not saying you have to pony up for every meal. But if you reach for the bill, he’ll know you’re a self-sufficient chick who’s not just looking for a free ride. “If a girl looks away or suddenly gets distracted when the check comes, I feel taken advantage of,” says Sammy,* 25. “When a woman insists on picking up the occasional tab though, it shows she’s interested in me as a person, not in what I can give her.”

Have Friday-Night Plans
Sure, you want to see him, and he appreciates that. But when you bombard him with a steady stream of e-mails and text messages asking if he wants to do something this weekend, it’s suffocating. What he needs to move forward with you is reassurance that you have your own life — one that doesn’t revolve around him. “My girlfriend was the first woman I’d ever dated who repeatedly told me ‘Already booked’ because she had all this other stuff going on,” says Amir, 29. “Soon, though, I realized that if I wanted to see her, I’d have to make plans in advance. That made me want her even more!”

Love His Guy Stuff
“My idea of long-term material is someone who will give me a high five when I’ve had a great day on the golf course or night at the poker table and who will laugh with me when I tell her about all the stupid stuff my friends did at our bar crawl,” says Carlo, 31. Yes, it’s asking a lot (we don’t expect you to embrace our strip-joint jaunts), but guys don’t want a girlfriend who’s going to bitch and moan about our manly activities or the company we keep.

Unleash Your Lust
When a guy looks ahead to his future with a girl, he wants to imagine crazy nights of wake-the-neighbors sex. So if you’re already an eager little bed devil to begin with, he knows he has a lot to look forward to in a relationship. “I dated this girl briefly who was great in every way, but when it came to sex, she was really inhibited. Instead of enjoying sex, it always seemed like she was doing me some kind of favor,” says Lucas, 29. “I knew it would just get worse as time went on, so I decided that I had to break it off.”

Teyona Anderson

I'm happy! Go TEYONA! Thanks goodness it wasn't Allison! Ugh!

Night, Night!

So, Aminat was sent home! :(
I hope Teyona can win!
If she doesn't, then I'm so through!

Dear eHarmony...

Dear eHarmony,

According to my records, my membership ends today (May 13, 2009 @ 11:59 pm). I do not wish to extend my membership because I honestly dont' think that your service is worth it. I have yet to find a guy on your site that I "clicked" with. I've been on your site for 6 months! I can't blame you entirely, but I will blame your false advertisement.

If I was unmatchable, I really wish you would've told me that from the get go! That way I would've saved my money! I may be picky, but I mean COME ON! I'm sure eHarmony works for some people, but it just didn't quite work for me. In the meantime and in between time, I will take my chance going to coffee shops, lounges, etc. to find my soul mate. I'm ending my experiment with online dating!

If I choose to go back to online dating, I will not use your services. Although "guided communication" may work for some people, it was very annoying going through five (5) different steps before I was able to exchange random e-mails with someone. Sometimes, it will take more than 2 weeks to get to the "Final stage." You have to understand, the majority of people on your site actually have a JOB. The only time most of us can communicate would be in the evening after a very long day at work.

Eventhough my letter may seem negative, I do wish your site much luck during these hard times!

Sincerely,

Former eHarmonite!

Twitter is gone!

I just didn't need it in my life! Facebook, Myspace & my blog is enough! And to be quite honest with you, I did not understand the big HYPE about it! Ah well... can't say it was good while it lasted because it really wasn't!

Goodbye Twitter!

Friendship

Is a word we use everyday
Most the time we use it in the wrong way
Now you can look the word up, again and again
But the dictionary doesn't know the meaning of friends

And if you ask me, you know, I couldn't be much help
Because A friend is somebody you judge for yourself
Some are ok, and they treat you real cool
But some mistake kindness for being a fool

Those that know me well, know that I'm not one to be around a large group of people. I would like to think that I've always been this way, but to be quite honest with you... this probably started recently. As in the past two (2) years.

During my college years, I definitely had a large group of friends. Although I would only share my inner most thoughts/feelings with a very small group, I definitely had a great group around me.

Since I moved to this area, I've found it hard to maintain such a friendship. I know there are people I've met that I definitely consider a friend, but I don't really feel as though there's a collective group of people that I can depend on. I can probably start naming names, but I don't want anyone to feel as though I think our "friendship" is meaningless. There are times when I literally drop what it is that I'm doing for some people, but I feel as though they wouldn't do the same for me. We all know that you don't give to get something, but really! I don't' want to put 100% into something, when you're barely putting in 50... The same goes for romantic relationships! I've accepted the fact that Mr. Right probably won't come around anytime soon (and that's fine!), so in the meantime (and in between time), I decided to work on what it is that I want from a relationship. No more will I settle for mediocrity!

Earlier today, I was speaking with my old college roommate! She was the DEFINITION of a GREAT friend back in college. When you saw her, more than likely, I was not too far behind. i must say, the thought of college just brings back all these great memories! I really wish I could go back!

Please excuse me... my mind is just all over the place this evening! To the few friends I do have here in DC, I do want you guys to know that I definitely love and appreciate each and everyone of you!

xoxo

Happy Mother's Day

How did you find the energy, Mom
To do all the things you did,
To be teacher, nurse and counselor
To me, when I was a kid.

How did you do it all, Mom,
Be a chauffeur, cook and friend,
Yet find time to be a playmate,
I just can’t comprehend.

I see now it was love, Mom
Weeping, sharing
That made you come whenever I'd call,
Your inexhaustible love, Mom
And I thank you for it all.

To Braid It Is!

Please excuse me if all you notice is forhead... I just look at it like this - God has blessed me with a bigger brain! :)

Rant: My Weight

You know what bothers me most? Hearing from others that I need to gain weight! Granted, I'm not underweight... I'm actually smack down in the middle of a healthy weight for my height!

You know what? Instead of me gaining weight, why don't you lose it! I was actually a tad bit thicker back in high school and the beginning of my college years. Then, I realized that I wasn't too happy with my size. At that point, I knew I had to do something about it.

Please don't take this personal - I just heard this recently and I just had to say SOMETHING! Slim is definitely not a bad thing! So stop making me feel bad about it!

Sheesh!

To Braid or Not To Braid... THAT is the question!

Although I enjoy the relaxed hair look, I definitely prefer having braids in. Not for the look, but for the convenience. Micro braids allow me some extra time to sleep!

One day...

So I'm more optimistic than I've ever been in my life! I know that one day, everything will fall right into place. I just need to stop rushing things! I need to take it one step at a time! One day, I'll write to you and say I'm exactly where I want to be in life!

At the tender age of 24, I know I have my whole life in front of me!

Great things will happen! I believe that one day I am going to be the happiest woman in the world!

Just wait and see!

Keri Hilson - Return the Favor

So I've been sleeping on Keri Hilson! I have her album and I must say... KUDOS! You see, I'm such a Beyonce fan, it's hard for me to open up to new artists. When Keri Hilson recently came out with that diss record, that some speculated was for Beyonce, she lost the little respect that I had for her! Well now she's off my sh*t list! :) I really enjoy listening to her! My favorite song is Make Love! Well here's another one of my favs:

Because this is my favorite song right now... I wanted to post the video! Enjoy!

Allergy Season

So it begins with the itchy nose. It then tapers off to the itchy eyes, runny nose, sneezing. Ugh! Allergy season is here! I have it very bad! There are times when I find it very hard to breathe.

The weather was too beautiful to say in. I knew that my allergies would act up, but I didn't think it was going to be this bad...so soon.

I need some medicine!!! I have some Zyrtec, however, it makes me drowsy :(.

It's days like this that makes me just chop my nose off!

Thought of the Day

Be the fulfillment
Instead of looking for the answer outside yourself, be the answer you seek. Instead of striving to attain fulfillment, be the fulfillment of your most impassioned stirrings.

The problems you face are yours precisely because you have what it takes to successfully address them. The situations you encounter provide fertile ground upon which you more fully become the best you can be.

The joys and the pains, the achievements and the disappointments, the frustrations and the victories all serve to move you forward. You are destined and well equipped to successfully navigate through each fascinating and valuable turn of events in your world.

You've already come a long way, and that depth of experience continues to serve you well. As the challenges come, as the opportunities appear, your ability to make a difference grows ever stronger and more valuable.

Greet each day with the satisfaction and confidence of knowing that you can adjust and adapt and build and create and thrive. Use the unique energy that is your very own in the service of meaningful and positive purpose.

Work to be the living fulfillment of the best you can imagine. Feel the dream and make it real.

Day 26 - Forever in a Day

So I've had this album on repeat for the past few days! Kudos to the boys at Day26 for coming out with yet another GREAT album!

Unfortunately (or fortunately), I have yet to get caught in the drama that they call a reality show. I've heard bits and pieces from family and friends. To be quite honest, I honestly don't care what they do behind the scenes, once I'm able to have something to listen to during my morning commute!

So let's play a game! If you had to, which guy on Day26 would you date?

My response - Absolutely None! There is something wrong with each one of them (IMO). I rather just not! Honestly, I don't even know whose singing half the time. I really need to step up my game.

Thought of the Day

No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.
--Eleanor Roosevelt

In this moment, we are the best we can be. Today, we can work at loving the best in ourselves and not fearing the worst. We are truly wonderful and growing people with gifts and qualities that make us who we are. No one can make us feel inferior without our consent.

Now, we are in charge of our lives and growth. We can choose to let go of old negative thinking. We can choose to think positive, loving thoughts about ourselves. We never need to be victims again to other people. We have options today. We can choose to grow in a positive way. We can choose to have loving, affirming people in our lives.

Today I will stick with the winners.

Thought of the Day

We do not have to get caught in the middle of other people's issues.
-- Melody Beattie

Learning to respect boundaries, our own and other people's, eliminates much of the stress that hinders relationships. Accepting the behavior and the opinions of our friends as legitimate for them allows our relationships to teach us tolerance and patience and love. Our journey on this planet is not about "fixing" or controlling others, but about loving them wholly, just as we want to be loved.

We need other people. Our humanity is enhanced by our mutual experiences. But we also need to let others learn from their mistakes and their own experiences, rather than to help them avoid what they need for their growth. We hate to see our friends in pain. Our compassion is triggered when trouble trips them. But their journey must be inviolate. We'll only prolong their struggle by intervening where we aren't needed.

It's hard to back away when a friend is in trouble. But telling a friend you love and support him or her may give them the strength they need.

Thought of the Day

No human creature can give orders to love.
--George Sand

If we're trying to get others to love us, all we're really doing is trying to be in control. Trying to control others can be a powerful drug. Remember, we can't control others. We can't make others love us. That Power has control, not us.

So, what do we need to do? Turn things over to Him and just be ourselves. Sure, it can scare us to just be ourselves. The truth is, not everyone will love us. But if we're honest about who we are, others will respect us. We'll like ourselves better. And we'll have a better chance of loving others and being loved.

Prayer for the Day
I pray to have my need for control lifted from me. I pray to be rid of self-will.

Action for the Day
Today, I'll list five ways my self-will - my need to control - has gotten me in trouble.

Dear Metro

Dear Metro,

First let me begin by saying that I have been a faithful customer for 3 years. I began my metro experience shortly after I moved to the DC area. I must say, when I first moved here, I was delighted at the cleanliness of the metro stations. I also enjoyed the fact that you had the estimated arrival time for the trains! Totally cool feature!

I've had some good experiences and some not-so-good experiences with your service. First things first... I ride the bus every morning and afternoon. One thing I can not tolerate is metro bus drivers that do not know where they're going. They rely on the riders to tell them where to go! If the normal bus driver is unavailable, I say you find people that are familiar with the particular route before you send them off with nothing but a few mapquest directions! I don't really mind this happening in the evening, but not in the morning! Many of us would actually prefer being on time to work.

There may be some things that I just don't understand about the operation behind metro. However, as a customer, it comes off as poor management.

You may want to fix that!

Sincerely,
Me'Shell

Press Play

So I may be in the minority here (or not).. But if you saw the play icon, would you expect it to play or pause?

I figured if I press the play icon, it would do just that...PLAY!

Pandora, you really need to fix that! It's very confusing! Here I am thinking something is wrong with my speakers, when in fact...Pandora just does not know the difference between Play & Pause!

Ok, enough about my press play/pause rant! :)

I hope everyone is having a fabulous week! I am getting ready to watch Milk. The movie received a number of awards, so I hope it's good. Then again, Sean Penn is in it... NUFF SAID!

I'll be back soon (I think)

Thought of the Day

I'm apart of a group, who I consider my second family quite frankly. They provide a lot of great information along with tons of laughter. One thing I receive every day from a member of the group, is the thought of day. So I will share today's thought with you.

To believe in something not yet proved and to underwrite it with our lives; it is the only way we can leave the future open.--Lillian Smith

Today stands before us, ready for our involvement. And it will offer us opportunities for personal growth and occasions to help another make progress on her path to the future. Challenges are to be expected. They further our purpose. They foster our maturity.

How different it is, for many of us, to look forward to today with secure anticipation, to trust in what the future holds! We can still remember, all too vividly perhaps, the darker periods in our lives, periods that seemed to hold no promise; a time when we dreaded the future, fearing it would only compound those awful times.

The fear and the dread are not gone completely. They hover about us, on occasion. They no longer need to darken all of a day, however. We can recognize their presence as parts of our whole, not all of it. How free we are, today! Our choices are many.

I can step toward today with assurance, reaching out to others along the way, trusting that my accumulated steps add stability to my future.

I'm not even sure what to title this blog, but I figure I'll leave it up to you to add your own title after reading.

I've been living in the DC metro area for almost 3 years. During this time, I've bumped into a number of fairly attractive single black men. If I were to go more in depth, I'm sure I would be able to write a book about my experience with dating in the district. I started this blog to update friends about my not-so-interesting life. After some recent disappointments, I decided to stay away from blogging. It was almost depressing. Girl meets guy - guy appears to be all that and a bag of chips! Then somewhere along the line, something goes wrong!

It's a story that I'm so use to. I'm at a point in life where I want to just give up...but when I start thinking about it... I'm only 24! I'm sure I'm going to have more disappointments dating. I honestly don't think I can go through with it. I just can't deal with the constant excuses, the constant lies! To be quite frank - I think it's absolutely ridiculous!

Some may say I can't always blame the men...but since I think I'm perfect (sarcasm!), I refuse to blame myself!

I'm more irritated than anything! Ugh!
I'll be back... I promise!

My dream last night

Last night I was the mother of two beautiful kids. A boy & a girl. They were the best kids any parent could wish for. It was such a wonderful dream. Then... I woke up.

For the first time in my life, I was looking forward to one day becoming a mother. I'm not saying that the thought has never came up before, I just never really smiled as much as I did last night. I was so happy when I woke up, I did a Google search on dream interpretations. Here's what I came up with:

Principally the dream baby represents your own feeling urges at that level of development - such as possessiveness, joy, curiosity, responding to the world without words or formed concepts, innocent love, infant trauma; intense dependence; feelings of helplessness; vulnerability; lack of responsibility; being cared for.

Even as adults many of these early feeling responses still dominate the way we meet relationships and events. It is quiet common for instance for adults to feel intense and destructive jealousy about their sexual partner. This is exactly the sort of feeling we experienced naturally as a baby and child. Unfortunately in adulthood we seldom such feelings as an emergence of baby feelings which we have not grown beyond. Instead we accept them as adult behaviour and justify them, often blaming our sexual partner for them - i.e. You made me jealous by showing affection for that other man/woman. The baby often feels murderous rage in connection with such dependence and jealousy, but it is too small to effectively act on the rage. When an adult feels such rage however, it is highly dangerous and irrational. See personal growth.

The baby can also suggest a new phase of life; a new idea; new activity - as when we say someone has a new baby, meaning a new project or business. This baby might be part of the personality or ability that did not have a chance to be born or express before. Or it may be things learned in a rich life that one could not put into practice because of circumstances such as work pressure or parenthood. The baby in this aspect is the you that could have been if you had been free from problems and past hurts.

You know what I hate?

I absolutely hate when I drunk text/call people! Ugh!
The worst part about it - having to hear about it the next day!
Maybe I should just leave my phone home when I plan to go out and drink!
lol
